A seat device for a passenger transportation vehicle especially an aircraft is provided with a reclinable backrest 18 connected to a seat part 16 by a hinge 22. Sliders 24 and 88 are mounted inside a guide track 26 and support the hinge 22. A rotatably connected front-side strut 30 supports the seat part 16 at the front-side location of the hinge 22. A rotatably connected rear-side strut 36 supports the backrest 18 at a location separated from the hinge 22. The backrest 18 is moved in the direction to be substantially in one plane with the seat part 16 with the movement of the slider 24 along the guide track 26 to provide a sleeping passenger with a flat surface.
