To provide a secondary air supply device for an engine with a lead valve chamber at the upper part of a cylinder head cover and a secondary air supply passage inside the cylinder head cover and a cylinder head for supplying secondary air to an exhaust passage, having compact and well-looking construction and requiring little labor for maintenance.
The four-cycle engine consists of a valve system to be driven by a cam shaft 5 stored in a valve chamber 25 covered with the cylinder head 2 and the cylinder head cover 1 and a lead valve device 12 laid on the way of the secondary air supply passage 19 for supplying the secondary air to the exhaust passage 18. The lead valve chamber 11 storing the lead valve device 12 is arranged between bearing housings 28 journaling the cam shaft 5 and it is provided integrally with thick portions 17 of a plurality of adjacent bearing housings 27, 27 journaling the cam shaft 5 together with the cylinder head 2.
