Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery which enables the achievement of a higher energy density and downsizing by increasing the percentage of an electrode area to the volume in the battery, and enables the materialization of superior battery characteristics by avoiding a contact failure in the battery.SOLUTION: A secondary battery comprises a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate which are opposed to each other, and in which an active material layer is formed on the surface of each of the positive and negative electrode plates. In the secondary battery, one of the positive and negative electrode plates includes a base part, and a plurality of post-like convex parts protruding from the base part, whereas the other electrode plate includes a base part, and a plurality of cylindrical convex parts protruding from the base part. The post-like convex parts of the one of the positive and negative electrode plates are fit in the cylindrical convex parts of the other electrode plate.
