PURPOSE: To manufacture a secondary electron doubling tube strong and uniform in resistance distribution with small manufacturing process and without needing skill by forming a trumpet-shaped part and a secondary electron doubling part successively in a body.

CONSTITUTION: To begin with, a mold 14 in which a core 13 is fixed coaxially is prepared. Inside the mold 14 are formed a cornical space 15 corresponding to the trumpet-shaped part 11 of a secondary electron doubling tube and a cylindrical space 16 following this space 15. The core 13 is housed in the mold 14 and fixed there. On the other hand, as a semiconductor material, a raw material 20 for formation which is made into fluid by using titanic acid zinc, adding binder and then mixing and heating them is prepared. And after pressure- feeding the raw material, the pressure-fed raw material is solidified by cooling the mold 14 and then the core 13 is removed from the mold 14. Hereby, a formation 23 in which a trumpet-shaped part 11 and a secondary electron doubling part 12 are successively formed in a body can be obtained.
