Abstract:

To execute a secure printing from a client application on a data network to a set top box(STB) having a printer.

The STB 10 is arranged on a digital cable network having a cable head end 6 for interfacing the digital cable network to the data network. After deciding whether a secure communication route exists between the client application and the STB 10 or not, printing data are generated in the client application. When the secure communication route exists, the printing data are transmitted from the client application to the STB 10. Then the printing data are sent from the STB 10 to the printer 12 to print out them.
