To update a security code having a irregular security code updating period without manual intervention in a security system which performs locking and unlocking based on authetication by transmitting to a security server a security code received from a terminal.
When another terminal 102 enters the range of a terminal 101, tentative security codes are generated in the terminals. The security codes are transmitted to a security server 104 through a radio communication means. The security server 104 authenticates by checking whether each terminal is legitimate, generates a new security code using the two tentative security codes having been received, and replaces a security code stored in the server with the new security code. The security server 104 then distributes the new security code to radio communication terminals located in a radio communicatable area.
