Abstract:
To reduce the seek time of a magnetic head against all tracks of a magnetic disk.
The n tracks TR are divided into s sets of track groups including n' (<n) tracks for each, then a moving mechanism 62 inside group driven by a piezo actuator 621 to move in step the head 2 within the range of one set of track groups and a moving mechanism 63 between groups driven by a stepping motor 631 to move in step the head 2 between the tracks of ending and beginning parts of adjacent track groups, are provided, and a carriage mechanism 6 is constituted by connecting both mechanisms, then each track TR is successively seeked with the alternate stepping movements of the head 2 made by both mechanisms.
