To provide a select assist device for an automatic transmission enabling range switch operation at a time of failure by a mechanical connection of a selection lever and a range position switch device, capable of enlarging degree of freedom of lay out by miniaturizing the selection lever and providing selection lever operation force characteristics in response to demand.
This device is provided with an operating force determination part 46 determining whether operating force is applied to a select lever 2, LPF 471 detecting temperature drift quantity of a torque sensor, a second input operation calculation part 47 calculating a second input operation force which is temperature drift quantity and keeping the second input operation force at a value before calculation when it is determined that operation force is applied, and a third input operation force calculation part 48 calculating a third input operation force subtracting the second input operation force from a first input operation force. A control unit 22 uses the third input operation force as an input operation force.
