Title:
SELECTIVE PRODUCTION OF ALICYCLIC POLYVALENT ACID HALIDE DIASTEREOMER AND NEW ALICYCLIC POLYVALENT ACID HALIDE CYCLOPENTANE-1,2,4-TRICARBONYL CHLORIDE OBTAINABLE THEREBY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3103203
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To highly easily obtain in high purity and yield the trans modification especially useful among alicyclic polyvalent acid halide diastereomers.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An alicyclic polyfunctional carboxylic acid is made to react at 0-120°C pref. 20-80°C with (B) a halogenating agent, a compound obtained from (1) an element capable of making a covalent bond with a halogen among the elements in the third period of the Periodic Table (e.g. Si, P, S), (2) oxygen and (3) a halogen (pref. thionyl halide, phosphoryl halide or sulfuryl halide) to selectively halogenate only the trans modification among the compound A followed by separating the resultant halogenated trans modification from the cis modification of the alicyclic polyfunctional carboxylic acid unreacted and acid anhydride, etc. Use of the trans modification thus obtained as a material for producing high polymers facilitates controlling the thermal, physical or chemical properties of the polymers within a specified range. With the present method, cyclopentane-1α, 2α, 4β-tricarbonyl chloride of formula I or cyclopentane-1α, 2α, 4α-tricarbonyl chloride, each new compound useful for producing separation membranes, can be obtained.
