Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a polymer blend decomposable in a body by taking a time, comprising at least two biodegradable polymers derived from monomers selected from ε-caprolactone, DL- or L-lactic acid and glycolic acid and a medicine. CONSTITUTION: This blend comprises at least two biodegradable polymers derived from monomers selected from among ε-caprolactone, DL- or L-lactic acid and glycolic acid and having a structure of -(CH2 )5 COO-,-CH2 COO-,-(CH2 ) CHCOO-, etc., and a medicine (>=500 molecular weight). The blend is useful as surgical suture, transplanted piece, etc., having a degradation rate different from the individual polymer constituting the blend, biodegradable with taking a time, as a transient tissue useful in vivo. The release of the medicine is attained by permeation and decomposition of the polymer and complicated control of each monomer is not required.
