PURPOSE: To recover selenium safely and at low cost and to enable a metallic substrate to be regenerated, by immersing a seleium photoreceptor into a heated liquid, and stripping selenium from it through utilization of change of its physical property.
CONSTITUTION: A vessel 1 is supplied with hot or cold water through a water supply inlet 3, and heated with a heater 2 to boil it. A cylindrical or a plate- shaped selenium photoreceptor 5 is immersed into the boiled water and placed on a drain-board 6. All the selenium film is converted into metallic selenium from amorphous selenium in one or 2min, and it is stripped from the surface of aluminum in about 5min. The stripped selenium is recovered by filtering it from the water with a filler 9, and the aluminum substrate drum separated from selenium is recovered from the boiled water.
