Title:
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE FOR SWITCHING VALVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3811242
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the failure of a switching valve early so as to avoid secondary trouble by comparing fluid temperature, detected by fluid temperature detecting means provided near the switching valve, with the preset contents to diagnose whether the switching valve is in normal switching action or not.
SOLUTION: In an outlet control type cooling system, cooling water is circulated from an engine F to a cooling water passage 1, a radiator R, a cooling water passage 2 and an engine E by valve opening of a thermostat 15. In this case, water temperature sensor 5 is provided on the cooling water outlet Ea side of the thermostat 15 in the cooling water passage 1, and an outside air temperature sensor 7 is provided, and output signals of these sensors are inputted to a control part 11. After the water temperature sensor 5 detects specified temperature, whether or not cooling water temperature within the specified time is within an allowable temperature range preset in a storage part is compared. In case of the cooling water temperature being higher or lower than the allowable temperature range, the failure of the thermostat 15 is diagnosed, and informing means 12 inform an operator of the failure of the thermostat 15.
