Abstract:

PURPOSE: To shorten the processing time of a self-diagnostic command for initialization even in the device requiring a long time for self-diagnostic operation.
CONSTITUTION: In the self-diagnosis system of a small computer system interface SCSI device which executes commands from a host computer through an SCSI, prescribed self-diagnosis is executed at the time of initialization of the SCSI device, and the result is stored, and the stored prescribed self-diagnostic result is returned if a receive diagnostic result command is received without reception of a send diagnostic command after initialization. After the unit attention state is cleared, the good status is returned without prescribed self-diagnostic operation in response to the send diagnostic command which is first received to request prescribed self-diagnosis.
