Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently and flexibly realize coupling between neurons only in a required part by growing a growable data transfer means based on local information like the gradient of a diffused coupling request signal to form coupling to itself or another neuron.

CONSTITUTION: A coupling source neuron 110 grows a growable transfer line 121 in the direction of the density gradient of the coupling request signal to form coupling with a coupling destination neuron 101. After formation of this coupling, data is transferred from the coupling source neuron 110 to the coupling destination neuron 101, and this data is weighted by a synapse circuit 103 and is transferred to the coupling destination neuron 101. In parallel with this transfer, weight value held in the synapse circuit 103 is changed to desired value by learning. If it is judged that coupling unnecessary, for example, if the weight value is 0 or smaller. the coupling destination neuron 101 generates a coupling disconnection signal to retard the growable data transfer line.
