Abstract:
To provide a self-ignition type internal combustion engine in which the combustion efficiency of sprayed fuel in a center region of a cavity part can be improved.SOLUTION: The self-ignition type internal combustion engine is provided that comprises a combustion chamber N demarcated between a cylinder head part 20 and a cavity part 11 formed at an apex face of a piston 10, the combustion chamber N has: a lip part 13 formed at an opening edge part of an internal peripheral side face of the cavity part 11, and projecting toward a center region from the internal peripheral side face; a salient part 12 formed at the center region of a bottom face of the cavity part 11, and salient upward from the bottom face; and a turbulent flow generation part 14 formed at an external peripheral region of the bottom face of the cavity part 11, and converting a part of a swirl flow flowing in the external peripheral region to a turbulent flow.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
