Title:
SELF-INFLATING TIRE ASSEMBLY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2011235887
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To incorporate a self-inflating function into a tire that automatically inflates the tire and compensates a temporal decrease of tire pressure without any intervention of a driver.

A self-inflating tire assembly includes a tire having a tire cavity 40 between sidewalls 30, 32 that extend from bead cores 34, 36, respectively. At least one of the sidewalls 30, 32 includes a tube 42. The tube 42 has a tube air passageway 43, and arranged at a groove side of a sidewall groove 126. The sidewall groove 126 is bent within a footprint 100 to compress the tube 42. A bead core passageway 134 extends within the bead core 34 adjacent to the sidewall 30, and stores air from the tube air passageway 43. A conduit for guiding the air from the tube 42 to the bead core passageway 134 is provided, and a valve mechanism is arranged within the bead core passageway 134, thereby controlling an air flow from the bead core passageway 134 to the cavity 40.
