Title:
SELF-INFLATING TIRE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2013049414
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a self-inflating tire assembly for compensating for a decrease over time in tire pressure.

The self-inflating tire assembly includes: air tubes 41, 42 connected to a tire and defining an air passageway; and an inlet adjustment device 44 connected to inlet ends 41a, 42a of the air tubes 41, 42. The air tubes 41, 42 are sequentially flattened by a tire footprint 100 in a direction opposite to a tire direction 88 of rotation to pump air to the inlet device 44 for exhaust or to an outlet device 46 for feeding exhaust to a tire cavity. Even if the inlet device 44 is positioned within the annular passageway 180° opposite to the outlet device 46 and a tire rotates in either a forward or reverse direction, air is effectively pumped along the air passageway. The inlet device 44 adjusts flow rates of the inlets of the air tubes 41, 42.
