PURPOSE: To save labor and prevent quality of reaped rushes from deteriorating with a change in weather by providing a construction for changing reaped rushes from an erected posture thereof into a lodged posture, binding the rushes, enabling direct loading thereof onto a machine body and traveling the machine body.
CONSTITUTION: A grass dividing mechanism (A) for rushes, a raising up mechanism (B) for the divided rushes and a plant foot reaping mechanism (D) for the raised up rushes are locally and concentratedly arranged at end positions displaced to either of left and right sides of a machine body 11. An action starting point (a) of an endless nipping and conveying belt 42 for providing a hanging posture after reaping thereof and conveying the rushes by a prescribed action length (L1) while elastically nipping the ear tip side of the rushes is faced to a position just after the raising up mechanism (B). An endless bundling conveying belt 67 for conveying the side of plant foot sides of rushes reaped with a reaping mechanism (D) by a prescribed action length (L2) and introducing the rushes into a binder 71 is installed in an arranged state extending nearly parallel to the nipping and conveying belt 42 viewed from the upper side of the machine body 11.
