Abstract:
An own-position estimation device according to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with: a current position estimation unit for provisionally estimating the current own-position; a point group data selection unit for calculating a range in which information can be acquired by a sensor of a moving body on the basis of the provisional own-position among point group data included in map information, and selecting point group data that is in the acquirable range; a point quantity adjustment unit for comparing the number of points of the point group data selected from the map information and a maximum processable number of points, which is the maximum number of points that can be processed in the maximum allowable processing time when the position is estimated, and adjusting the number of points of the selected point group data so as to be within a range that is no greater than the maximum processable number of points, on the basis of the comparison result; and a matching unit for matching the adjusted point group data and the point group data in the information acquired by the sensor.
