A self-priming centrifugal pump includes large and small two vortex chambers, and separates gas from water, by causing self-priming water from the small vortex chamber to flow out to a self-priming water separation chamber having a delivery part of a large vortex chamber formed in an upward cylindrical shape, by generating a self-priming water circulating flow flowing to the large vortex chamber from the small vortex chamber in self-priming operation, by making a clearance between a start part of the small vortex chamber and an impeller outer peripheral part larger than a clearance in the large vortex chamber. The self-priming centrifugal pump is constituted so as to cause the self-priming water circulating flow from the small vortex chamber to flow in the self-priming water separation chamber from a swirling flow opening part formed in a shape to be rolled in from the tangent direction to the self-priming water separation chamber to generate a swirling flow for gas-water centrifugal separation, and to divide the self-priming water circulating flow on the way to the swirling flow opening part to flow out in the self-priming water separation chamber from a divided flow opening part separately arranged in a height in the vicinity of the swirling flow opening part or a higher position than that.
