Title:
SELF-PRIMING INTAKE PUMP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3124010
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake pump having balanced self-priming capability and flow-rate characteristic, by specifying a space between a projection formed in a runner and a diaphragm that separates an outlet chamber and an intake chamber from each other, and providing a separation wall and a return water hole in a volute portion.
SOLUTION: An annular projection 42a is formed to surround an intake port of a runner 42. A space m between the projection 42a and a diaphragm is set to an optimum value of 1 to 3 mm, and a space n between a planar portion 42b and the diaphragm is set to an optimum value of 0.6 to 1.2 mm. When an air-water mixture discharged from the runner 42 during self-priming operation reaches an outlet chamber 40i, the air is stored in a separation chamber 40k, whereas the water is stored in the outlet chamber 40i. The water in the outlet chamber flows inside a volute through return water holes 40c1, 40c2. Thereafter, the water reaches the intake side of the runner through the spaces m, n, and is discharged back into the outlet chamber together with the air. Such a process is repeated, whereby the air is moved to the discharge side. Then, a hose is filled with water, thereby shifting the pump into a steady water-feeding operation. With such a structure and function, the balance of self-priming capability and flow-rate characteristic is improved.
