To provide self-restorable concrete, a method for manufacturing the same, and a structure using self-restorable concrete.
This self-restorable concrete is manufactured by kneading together cement, aggregate, an epoxy resin not containing a curing agent, and water, followed by molding the mixture and by curing the molded product. The epoxy resin is e.g. added in a quantity of 40 wt.% based on the quantity of cement, and is separated into a plurality of phases by being kneaded, followed by reaction with dehydrated cement existing around each of the above phases to cause the state that only the surface layer is hardened and the inner part is unhardened. When the self-restorable concrete cracked, the surface layer having a plurality of cured epoxy resin phases is broken, and an unhardened epoxy resin plugging the cracks reacts with hydrated cement existing around the epoxy resin and cures. Thus, the self-restorable concrete retains its strength even when cracked.
