Abstract:
To provide a self-tapping screw and a fixation structure of a plated resin component using the self-tapping screw, capable of surely fastening the plated resin component to a metal member.SOLUTION: A self-tapping screw 10 is configured such that at a head part of a metal screw body 11 including a screwed shaft part 14, a resin self-tapping screw part 13 is integrally molded. The resin self-tapping screw part 13 comprises: a plurality of maximum diameter part with a predetermined length, formed in a circumferential direction of a screw thread; and a variable diameter part formed between the maximum diameter parts, and whose diameter gradually contracts, wherein a screw thread angle is not smaller than 50°. The self-tapping screw part 13 is screwed and fixed into a boss hole formed in a plated resin component, and then the shaft part is fixed to a metal member with a nut.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
