Abstract:
A self-penetrating soil borer which desends into its excavation under its own weight without guidance from the surface has a housing with outer contours consisting of three or four lobes which corresponds to the three or four cylindrical drilling units. The walls of the lobes are guided by the walls of the borehole which has a congruent shape and prevent any rotation of the tool around its centre line.
