To provide a selvedge apparatus so designed that twistings of mutual selvedge yarns occurring upstream of a mechanism providing opening motions to selvedge yarns are eliminated at any time without enlarging the mechanism and selvedge yarn breakages or the like associated with such occurrence are prevented effectively.
The selvedge apparatus for loom, acting in such a way that a pair of selvedge yarns are subjected to opening motion by rotating a rotator furnished with guide holes for guiding selvedge yarns, is provided, comprising a selvedge yarn opening mechanism equipped with a single-purpose driving motor subjecting the rotator to intermittent rotary driving in a given direction, and a selvedge yarn feed mechanism installed upstream of the selvedge yarn-drawing direction of the selvedge yarn opening mechanism, comprising guide elements in each of which a pair of guide parts guiding selvedge yarns drawn from selvedge yarn feeders are formed and rotary elements supporting the guide elements and undergoing continuous rotary driving in the same direction as the case with the rotator, and undergoing revolving motion without mutually crossing selvedge yarns joining from each of the selvedge yarn feeders to the selvedge yarn-threading part of the corresponding guide element by the rotation of the rotary element.
