Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a semiconductor arrester which has no fear of damage of a thyristor element due to a current concentration, an overvoltage without delay of an operation.

CONSTITUTION: A thyristor element 1 and a zinc oxide element 2 are connected in parallel between a power system 6 and a ground. A constant-voltage diode 3 as means for extracting a discharge current is provided in series with the element 2, and part of the discharge current flowing through the element 2 is input to a gate of the element 1 through a resistor 5 to be ignited.
