Abstract:

To improve security by limiting use of a memory cell unit or a processor unit by a password.

The semiconductor device comprises a semiconductor substrate 10, a basic module 20 having a nonvolatile memory cell unit or processor unit in a part on the substrate 10, an authentication module 30 having a nonvolatile memory cell in an area different from the basic module 20 on the substrate and storing authentication codes for the basic module 20, and a life control module 40 having a nonvolatile memory cell in an area different from the basic module 20 and the authentication module 30 on the substrate and controlling the readable period of the authentication module 30.
