Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable to obtain high speed operation by a method wherein a photo transistor for input and an LED for output are combined into the constitution of the optical logic circuit on the surface of a semiconductor. CONSTITUTION:A photo transistor (TR)11 is formed on the surface of the semiconductor , and an emitter electrode is connected to a power source terminal 14 via a resistor 13 formed by a diffusion, etc. An LED 12 is formed on the same surface of the semiconductor, and joined between the emitter electrode of the TR 11 and an earth potential. The TR11 and the LED 12 are joined to an optical guide. A photo inverter circuit is formed by the above constitution. When a light signal L is not inputted into the TR 11, the TR 11 cuts off, thus the LED 12 is biased in forward direction resulting in light emission, and accordingly outputs a light output signal anti-L to the light guide. Contrarily, when a light input signal L is inputted into the TR 11, the light emission of the LED 12 stops because the TR turns ''ON''. Since it is so constituted that the transmission of signal is performed only by light, high speed operation can be obtained.
