Abstract:
To provide a semiconductor device capable of reducing power consumption and performing search operations with high speed.SOLUTION: A memory array includes a plurality of associative memory cells arranged in rows and columns for storing entries. The memory cell array includes: a plurality of match lines divided into a plurality of memory blocks for sequentially executing a search operation along the column direction and provided corresponding to each memory cell row corresponding to each memory block; a plurality of search lines provided corresponding to each memory cell column corresponding to each memory block; and further a plurality of match amplifiers respectively provided for the plurality of match lines corresponding to each memory block. The match line provided corresponding to the memory block at the preceding stage is set shorter than the match line provided corresponding to the memory block at the subsequent stage. A timing control unit is further provided for controlling the timing of driving the search line of the memory block at the subsequent stage based on the length of the match line provided corresponding to the memory block at the preceding stage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
