Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized and low-cost semiconductor laser device which can record on and reproduce from optical discs of different formats and a light pickup device using it.
SOLUTION: With respect to the semiconductor laser device having a light emitting and receiving integrated substrate which is formed by integrating a first semiconductor laser device 5 and a second semiconductor laser device 6 of different oscillating wavelengths and a plurality of photodetectors 7a and 7b on a substrate 8 and optical devices 10-16, the distance L1 in air terms from the first semiconductor laser device 5 to a focusing means and the distance L2 in air terms from the second semiconductor laser device 6 to the focusing means are set approximately equal.
