Title:
SEMICONDUCTOR LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3904571
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable semiconductor light emitting device wherein no breakage or the like of wires takes place in the case that the semiconductor light emitting device used in place of an electric lamp and a fluorescent tube or the like is monolithically formed by forming a plurality of light emitting units on one substrate.
SOLUTION: A plurality of the light emitting units 1 are formed by electrically isolating a semiconductor laminate 17 laminated on the substrate 1 in a way of forming a light emitting layer into a plurality of divisions, and a plurality of the light emitting units 1 are respectively connected in serial and in parallel by a wire film 3. A structure of electrically isolating a plurality of the light emitting units 1 respectively is formed with an isolation trench 17a formed in the semiconductor laminate 17 and an insulation film 21 embedded in the isolation trench 17a, the isolation trench 17a is formed at a place wherein the surfaces of the semiconductor laminate 17 with the isolation trench 17a in-between are substantially flush with each other, and the wire film 3 is formed on the isolation trench 17a via the insulation film 21.
