Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent the occurrence of mode hopping by changing a stress to be applied to a diffraction grating to bring a diffraction wavelength of the grating substantially into matching with one of longitudinal mode resonating wavelengths of a laser resonator. SOLUTION: A fiber grating(FG) 5a formed near an end of an optical fiber 5 is disposed in a ferrule 4 to constitute a resonator, together with a high reflectivity film 3a of a light emitting element 3. When the fiber 5 is drawn from a rear end side of the ferrule 4 to operate a tensile stress to the fiber 5 while observing a spectrum of a light emitted from the rear end side of the fiber 5, a diffraction wavelength of the FG changes according to the magnitude of the applied stress, and hence one of longitudinal mode oscillation wavelengths can be substantially brought into matching with the diffraction wavelength by applying a suitable tension to the fiber. Accordingly, stable oscillation without the generation of mode hopping can be performed.
