Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized and fast-breaking contactless switch which has small loss when supplied with a current.
SOLUTION: This contactless AC switch is characterized by that a power semiconductor element of its switching part is a unipolar transistor using as a material a wide-gap semiconductor crystal of ≥2.0 eV in the band-gap energy between a valance electron band and a conductive electron band and has linear output characteristics for a control signal. Then at least two semiconductor elements are connected in series while having the reverse polarity directions and a control circuit supplies a control signal turning on and off the semiconductor elements almost at the same time.
