Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a semipermeable membrane having high heat resistance, chemical resistance, and solvent resistance by forming a layer coated with an epoxy resin in a porous material part of a semipermeable membrane and imparting combined characteristics of a thermoplastic resin and a thermosetting resin to the membrane. CONSTITUTION:For example, a hollow yarn membrane consisting of a polyethersulfone resin is dipped in a soln. contg. an epoxy resin dissolved in methanol, etc., or the soln. is filtered with said hollow yarn membrane. A coated layer of the epoxy resin is formed thereafter by setting the epoxy resin by drying the resin in the air. By this method, the heat resistance, chemical resistance, and the solvent resistance of the semipermeable membrane are improved by simply coating a conventionally used semipermeable membrane with an epoxy resin.
