To provide a semitransmission type liquid crystal display wherein the color purity of panel display in a transmission mode is equal to that in a reflection mode and high display performance is attained.
A laminated body of a light reflection film 11 and a transparent resin film 5 including light scattering fine particles is formed on a glass substrate 4 and a color filter 6, an overcoat layer 7, a transparent electrode 8 and an alignment layer 9 are successively formed on the laminated body. A transparent electrode 12 and an alignment layer 9 are successively layered on the other glass substrate 4. The both substrates 4 are stuck to each other by using a sealing member via a liquid crystal 10. A part where no laminated body is formed is provided in every pixel to perform display in the transmission mode corresponding to the part and display in the reflection mode corresponding to the part where the laminated body is formed in each pixel.
