Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the instability of a polarization plane caused by the effect of the magnetic field or temperature and reduce an output drift by applying pressure from the outside of a sensing fiber with a belt member.
CONSTITUTION: A belt member 3 is provided on the outer periphery of a sensing fiber 2. The belt member 3 is formed with a thin plate into an ohmic shape, and both ends are bound with binding screws 4. The pressure from the outside of the sensing fiber 2 can be freely adjusted by the fastening degree of the binding screws 4. When pressure is applied to the outer periphery of the sensing fiber 2 via the belt member 3, the polarization plane is preserved by the same action as that of a polarization plane preserving fiber, the light traveling in both directions interferes with each other, the output drift caused by the rotation of the polarization plane is prevented, and a high-precision optical fiber gyroscope is obtained.
