To prevent damages of a loaded part which forms an air bearing even when the pressure of compressed air is reduced below a certain level or the compressed air is stopped to feed and prolong exchanging period of a separate roller in the separate roller having the air bearing.
This separate roller having an air bearing consists of at least a hollow cylindrical material 2 capable of freely revolving and a pivoting material 1 which pivots the hollow cylindrical material 2 through compressed air. The hollow cylindrical material 2 and the pivoting material 1 are made up with a loaded part 11 which essentially accepts the load loaded on the hollow cylindrical material 2 and a non-loaded part 10 which essentially accepts no load. In this case, an interspace forming material 3, which contacts with the hollow cylindrical material 2 to maintain the loaded part 11 at a non-contacted state when the pressure of compressed air fed to the air bearing is reduced or stopped feeding, is installed on the non-loaded part 10.
