PURPOSE: To constitute a separate type air conditioner having an outdoor unit comprising a compressor, heat exchanges and the like and indoor unit comprising blowers and the like, and to reduce noise in the indoor side and unnecessitate drain processing.

CONSTITUTION: This air conditioner is characterized in that coolant cycle components such as a compresser 4, heat exchangers 5 and 7, a coolant controller and the like are all provided in an outdoor unit 1, and this outdoor unit 1 is connected to indoor units 12 and 12' composed essentially of blowers 2 and 2' by means of dusts 8 and 9 and the like. As above described, since a compressor 4 generally making a load noise is provided outside the room in this separate type air conditioner, noise in the room is small. Further, since no heat exchangers 5 and 7 are provided in the indoor units 12 and 12', no dews are attached to the indoor units 12 and 12' at the time of cooling, and drain processing in the room is unrequired, thus making the indoor units 12 and 12' compact in size and light in weight.
