A separating apparatus 100 includes a first roller 110, a second roller 120, and a driving means 130 for rotating both rollers. The driving means rotates the first roller and the second roller in mutually counter directions. The first roller includes a cylindrical first part 111, a cylindrical second part 112 having a diameter smaller than the first part, and a circular truncated conical third part 113 connecting the first part with the second part. The outer shape of the second roller has a complimentary shape corresponding to the outer shape of the first roller so as to maintain a gap 114 between the first roller and the second roller. Friction coefficients of the surfaces of the first roller and the second roller are set so that hair can rotates together with the rollers while the hair adheres to the surface of the rollers with friction force.
