Title:
SEPARATING METHOD FOR MOLTEN METAL AND SLAG AT POURING- OUT OF REFINED METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5468703
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obstruct surely the outflow of molten slag and to prevent the slag from intermingling to the melten metal in the ladle, by throwing down a metal mass having a larger specific gravity than the molten metal as the stopper into the pouring-out hole at the same time as the detection of the completion of outflow of the molten metal.

CONSTITUTION: By slanting the converter 1, the pouring-out of the molten steel 2 to the ladle, etc. is started through the pouring-out hole 9. During this pouring- out, the steel ingot 5 to be used as the stopper is attached to the holding tool 7 at the tip part of the arm 6 of the holder 4 and preparations for inserting it into the furnace are made. Then, when the scheduled time has come, the holder 4 is moved to the prescribed position, the arm 6 is inserted into the furnace and the steel ingot 5 being being held is situated directly over the pouring-out hole 9. The existence of the layer of molten steel at the position adjacent to the pouring-out hole 9 is detected with the detector 8 for metal installed to the arm 6 and, at the same time when the layer of molten metal has become to be not detected, the steel ingot 5 is released from the holding tool 7 and is dropped, so as to close the pouring- out hole 9.
