Abstract:

To efficiently separate and recover 2,4-dichlorotoluene(2,4-DCT) and 2,6-dichlorotoluene(2,6-DCT) useful as an intermediate, etc., for a medicine from a mixture of dichlorotoluene isomers in high purity.

2,4-DCT as a raffinate component and 2,6-DCT as an extract component are separated and recovered by using the same absorbent containing a zeolite which is a sodium-type of an X-type faujasite containing silver and a proton as an exchangeable cation. Further, a substituted alkylbenzene compound is used as a desorbing agent. The content of the silver and the proton based on the amount of sodium before the exchange is 3-20 equivalent %. The substituted alkylbenzene compound used as the desorbing agent is a di- substituted alkylbenzene.
