PURPOSE: To obtain high-purity CO with a compact apparatus and small purge loss, by cooling CO-containing synthesis gas, absorbing and removing CO2, recovering heat, recovering thermal energy in a gas expander, cooling and dehumidifying the resultant gas, adsorbing and desorbing CO.
CONSTITUTION: A CO-containing synthesis gas is partially taken out of a gas line with the maximum CO concentration of CO-containing gas production equipment (parent plant) 1 equipped with a CO-containing synthesis gas production apparatus (reforming or gasifying furnace) 2 and a CO2 removing apparatus 3 for CO2 in the gas using a CO2 absorbing solution, cooled in a heat exchanger 4, led to a CO2 absorption column 7 to absorb and remove the CO2 with a CO2 absorbing solution, branched from the CO2 removing apparatus 3 for the CO2 of the gas production apparatus 1 and introduced thereinto. The absorbing solution is then returned to the CO2 removing apparatus 3. The synthesis gas is then heated in a heat exchanger 4 to recover heat and the resultant gas is expanded in a gas expander 10 to recover the thermal energy as a power. The gas under a low pressure is then passed through a gas cooler 11 and dehumidifying apparatus 12 and CO is adsorbed and desorbed in a CO separation apparatus 14 filled with a CO adsorbent. After reincreasing the pressure of the gas passing through the apparatus 14 in a compressor 16, the gas is returned to a downstream gas line to afford the aimed CO-enriched gas 13.
