Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the title pure substance which is a raw material for medicines and nutrients, by separating a novel DL-isoleucine 1,5-naphthalenedisulfonate from a mixture of DL-isoleucine and DL-alloisoleucine, and by decomposing the sulfonate.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of DL-isoleucine and DL-alloisoleucine is reacted with 1,5-naphthalenedisulfonic acid in an aqueous solvent, e.g. water, an alcohol, and a ketone, under heating to separate novel pure DL-isoleucine 1,5-naphthalenedisulfonate (slightly soluble) containing no DL-alloisoleucine 1,5-naphthalenedisulfonate. The resulting sulfonate is decomposed by the conventional method, e.g. alkali or ion exchange resin treatments, to give DL-isoleucine.
