Abstract:

To provide a method of separating and fractionating a glucan in a simple way using a reversed phase separation base material.

The method of separating and fractionating a glucan comprises contacting an aqueous glucan solution with the reversed phase separation base material so that the glucan is adsorbed in the material and desorbing the adsorbed fraction with a mixed medium of an alcohol and water. This method allows the production of a glucan having a specific molecular weight distribution.
