PURPOSE: To effect an efficient selective separation by means of concentration of a specified component from mixed gas by repeating the process of supplying the gas to be mixed under pressure to a gas separating membrane module and the process of sucking off a permeable gas under vacuum through a permeable side with the supply of the first-mentioned gas stopped on an alternate basis.
CONSTITUTION: The process of supplying under pressure the gas to be mixed (e.g., air) to a gas separating membrane module 4 (e.g., a hollow fiber type formed of cellulose acetate resin) and the process of sucking off a permeable gas (e.g., oxygen) under vacuum through a permeable side with the supply of the first-mentioned gas stopped are repeated alternately by a pump 2 at a short interval of 2 seconds to 5 minutes. These processes permit an increase of difference in pressure between the gas supply and permeable sides with a small power consumption and a uniform distribution over the entire surface of a membrane of the partial pressure of a specified component (e.g., nitrogen) of the raw gas, thereby making possible an efficient selective separation by means of concentration of a specified component from the mixed gas.
