Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of analyzing noble metals enabling quantitative determination to a sample including noble metals such as iridium, ruthenium and rhodium in trace quantity.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for separating trace noble metals comprising: a first step where a sample including a total of below 10 ppm of at least one or more kinds selected from iridium, ruthenium and rhodium and also including a compound of iron or copper is heated with an alkali flux and melted to obtain a melt, the melt is cooled and leached with hot water to obtain a solution, and ethanol is added to the obtained solution to produce precipitates, and solid-liquid separation is caused; a second step where the precipitates obtained in the first step are leached into water and ethanol, hydrochloric acid is added to the obtained solution, heating and melting are performed, thereafter, if required, a sodium chloride solution is added, and heating and solidification are performed; and a third step where hydrochloric acid is added to the precipitates obtained in the second step, heating and melting are caused, and thereafter, the solution obtained by cooling the same is passed into a cation exchange resin.
