PURPOSE: To separate org. liquid mixtures such as azeotropic liquid mixtures and liquid mixtures having near b.p. industrially advantageously by using a diene high polymer membrane applied with specific treatments.
CONSTITUTION: A membrane with about 0.1W500μ thickness consisting of diene high polymers such as isoprene, chloroprene or butadiene is irradiated with high acceleration electron beams or γ rays at about 5W100Mrad dose. The resultant diene high polymer membrane 1 is supported on a stainless steel sintered plate 6 to segment a treating chamber to a liquid mixture chamber 2 and a gas releasing chamber 3. If the org. mixture to be separated or concentrated is put into the chamber 2 through an injection port 5 and the chamber 3 is evacuated or other liquid or gas is circulated therein, the org. liquid which swells the membrane more out of the liquid mixture permeates through the membrane and is removed from an outlet 7. The concd. liquid is removed through an outlet 4. The high polymer membrane is highly resistant to heat and is advantageous for industrial sepn. processes.
