PURPOSE: To provide a canvas-paper separator for vacuum roll-equipped drier in which a saw-tooth cutter can be mounted also to the vacuum roll-equipped drier and the tail for threading may easily be formed and the paper can be simply threaded to the next part or section.

CONSTITUTION: When paper (dotted line) is guided together with a canvas 2 running around endlessly, along a drier roll 1 → a vacuum roll 6 → a preceding drier roll (1) → a vacuum roller at the final step (6), a canvas 2 is guided by a canvas roll 11 along the preceding drier roll (1) → the canvas roll 11 → the vacuum roll at the final step (6), while the paper which would run together with the canvas 2, as it adheres thereto, is forcibly separated from the canvas 2 and guided along the preceding drier roll (1) → the final vacuum roll 6. When the paper alone passes through an open draw (a range where the paper alone passes), the paper is perforated with a saw-tooth paper cutter to form a narrow tail, then, the saw-tooth is shifted in the width direction to remove the residual part of the paper.
