Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a serial data decoder which selects one out of a plurality of decoding tables by using a state machine and generates output data words in accordance with the selected decoding table. CONSTITUTION: A serial data decoder is provided with a state machine which has a plurality of branch hierarchical structures, each state of which corresponds to a different decoding table and a memory 72 which stores control data words. A latch 74 stores the latest control data word outputted from the memory 72. The memory 72 is a readout address formed by connecting a latched value, a table selecting word, an Y/C signal, and a serial data receiving bit. When the state machine enters the state corresponding to an effective code, the current control data word is outputted as an identifier of the effective code.
