PURPOSE: To realize printers having various widths with a single thermal head and a single drive roller by providing a plurality of paper feed units and arranging such that each paper feed unit is driven corresponding to the thermal head.
CONSTITUTION: A platen 5 and a paper feed roller 6 are formed with a thermal head 1 being split into two so that two thermal recording media 2 of B6 size having width of 90mm can be printed in parallel, where the platen 5 an the paper feed roller 6 are supported on a C-shaped supporting frame 4, thus providing a paper feed unit 7. Central portion of the supporting frame 4 is pivoted a supporting shaft 9 to a supporting member 8 rotatable around a fulcrum shaft 10 so that the platen 5 and the paper feed roller 6 contact resiliently with the thermal head 1 and the drive roller 3, respectively, while being pulled forward by means of a spring 11. Furthermore, a movable means 12 is provided in order to separate the platen 5 and the paper feed roller 6 from the thermal head 1 and the drive roller 3 respectively.
